MATIGARI ADVENTIST WELFARE ORGANIZATION (MAWO)

Last updated: August 2026

Who these bylaws govern

Matigari Adventist Movement in America (MAMA) is the movement behind all of the work on this site: worship, evangelism, the Eburru mission, health and education outreach, and the church building. It is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, EIN 87-1395827.

This constitution governs Matigari Adventist Welfare Organization (MAWO), the welfare wing of MAMA, a separate body with its own name, its own board, and its own funds. MAWO is the only body that pays bereavement support, and only to its own registered members. It does not govern donations to MAMA, the Kenya programs, or anything else described elsewhere on this site.

If you joined to volunteer, give, or take part in the mission work, these rules do not apply to you. They apply if you are registering as a MAWO member and contributing to the bereavement fund.

Part 1: The Foundation of the Organization

The Preamble

  • Upon the realization of our common desire to work together as people sharing common heritage, ideals, goals, kinship, and/or national origin.
  • Upon the need that we as a people have learned and continue to learn from past challenging experiences facing us, and the need for proactive engagement in facing those challenges.
  • Upon the acknowledgment and realization that emergencies, including death, will always occur among members of our community, and we as a people are better and stronger together than in isolation.
